Arctic Agents turns regular animals that live at the North Pole into secret agents. The idea is interesting, but the implementation by Microsoft isn’t necessarily as fun to look at. The original part is where they dress up animals and whales, giving them weapons and eye patches, among other things. There are enough features in there to give you a reason to at least consider playing it. The slot has a limited number of lines, 9 total, and it can pay up to $22,500.
Betting & Jackpots
Each of the 9 lines in use here will accept a maximum of 10 coins, so the top wager will have 90 coins in it. Those coins can have values between $0.01 and $0.25, with the total line bet being at $2.50. If you do this for all 9 lines, you end up with a $22.50 wager.
The biggest payout of Arctic Agents seems to come from the scatter, and its payout of 100x the wager, which could mean up to $22,500 cash for the player.
The Penguin, a secret agent that is armed with a toy gun, was picked to be the symbol which acts as a wild in Arctic Agents. The Penguin is a substitute symbol, used in this capacity whenever it lands where you need it. Wins obtained with wilds in them will also be worth twice as much, thanks to a multiplier of 2x. Wilds are also capable of forming combinations and paying on their own, as much as 600x the line bet, which isn’t much.
The most impressive part of the game would be the free spins though, which you get with help from the Igloo Base symbol. That would be a scatter, which pays 5x to 100x the triggering bet, whenever you have three to five such icons on the reels.
The Igloo scatters will trigger a bonus feature, where you choose one of the five agents, and you get a round of free spins with a multiplier. You can get a very low number of free spins, but with high multipliers, or it can be the other way around. The extremes are 3 free games with 15x multipliers, and 20 free spins with 2x multipliers.
The only ones to look good are the symbols with secret agent wild animals. They include an orca, a polar bear, a penguin and arctic foxes. As most developers do, Microgaming also got wrong the location where penguins live. Though the slot is about arctic agents (North Pole), the penguin belongs in the Antarctic region, at the South Pole. The big downside is the presence of some very ugly playing cards.
I enjoyed the high multipliers which can be applied during the free spins, as high as 15x, and that’s without taking into account the wild’s 2x multiplier. The design would definitely be the downside in this case.
