Loose Deuces

Loose Deuces
A variation of poker, it can take some time to get used to Loose Deuces if the player is unfamiliar with the game it was derived from. The game is a single player five card draw video poker game with a fairly simple concept (simple to those who understand the hands of poker). The Loose Deuces player must attempt to build the best possible hands with the cards dealt. All deuces (2s) are wild.
The game begins when player places their bet. The player is dealt five cards, face up, and selects whatever card(s) they don’t want to discard. All other cards are re-dealt in the hopes of improving the player’s hand.

The possible hands a player can be dealt in Loose Deuces, in order of value from highest to lowest are:

–Natural Royal Flush: The highest ranking hand in Loose Deuces. No use of a wild card allowed. The only way to get this hand is with an A-K-Q-J-10 set of cards.

–Four Deuces: A hand of four wild cards and any other card, for example, 2-2-2-2-4

–Wild Royal Flush: Also called a “Wild Royals with 2’s”, it is an Ace high straight flush that uses one or more wild cards, for example, A-K-Q-J-2.

–Five of a Kind: The only way to get this hand is with the help of one wild card and one wild card only, the other four cards must be a perfect match, for example, 8-8-8-8-2.

–Straight Flush: Comprised of five cards of the same suit in sequential order, for example, 3-4-5-6-7 of Clubs.

–Four of a Kind: Comprised of four cards of the same rank with one unmatched card, for example 3-3-3-3-9.

–Full House: Comprised of three matching cards of the same rank and two matching cards of the same rank, example, 5-5-5-8-8.

–Flush: A flush is any five cards of the same suit, value is unimportant, for example, 8-2-K-7-9 of Hearts.

–Straight: Any five cards in sequential order, suit is unimportant, for example 7-8-9-10-J.

–Three of a Kind: Any three cards of the same rank. The value and suit of the other two cards do not match, for example, 8-8-8-4-9.

In this game of 5 card poker, it is usually wise to follow these tips:

–Never discard a deuce. It’s a wild card and can increase the chances of having a winning hand.

–There is no win for two pair, so a person with a hand that includes a two pair should discard one of those pairs.

–Bet the max bet as often as possible. Potential winnings increase exponentially when the player places the max bet.

–Discard a high ranked card if all the player is holding is a pair. Keeping the pair and discarding the high ranking card will increase the player’s chances of getting a three of a kind. The three of a kind is the lowest hand in loose deuces, but the odds of getting three of a kind are much better than turning the high ranking card into anything useful.
