The game of Roulette is pure luck, in this game players will need to choose a winning number, a winning color, odds or evens or a column of numbers in which they feel a metal ball will land on a wheel. Of course in Online Casinos the game is played using a random number generator instead.
In land based casinos there are two different versions of Roulette that can be offered;
American Roulette – This version has 38 numbers on it and has a slot for 00 and 0 which increases the house edge to 5.26 percent.
European Roulette – This version only has 37 slots numbered 0-36 and carries a house edge of 2.63 percent.
The actual game of Roulette came from France and the layout of the table hasn’t changed since 1842. Roulette consists of two betting areas, the inside betting area is just numbers on the board and the outside betting area is for the columns, red / black or odd / even and the different groups of numbers the player can make bets on. For the inside betting the numbers are arranged in 12 rows totaling three numbers making three vertical columns starting with 0 & 00 depending on the game.
In land based casinos each player at the table is given a different color chip because when they’re all out there on the table, in the hype of the game who’s chips are who’s can get pretty confusing. So, to simplify the game this is how they’ve arranged it. When playing online the game is typically played with just you against the house in some specialty casinos like live casinos, you’ll have more competition. To start the game the players will be given an allotted amount of time to decide how they want to make their bets.
There are many different kinds of bets to be made you may hear different terms when playing in a land based casino so to help you get familiar with the different betting types here is a mini glossary of the terms.

In land based casinos the wheel will always be kept moving during a game, even if the ball isn’t on the table and during the time for players to make their bets. This is so that the ball can jump and spin before landing on a number. When the ball is first brought onto the table it is shot into the opposite direction of the wheel that is spinning.
